uSwitch calls on supporters to go online and vote
uSwitch.ie is delighted to announce that it has been shortlisted as a finalist for this year’s Dot ie Net Visionary Awards.
Now in their 15th year, the annual awards which are run by the Irish Internet Association, are the mainstay of the internet business calendar.
This year sees a new twist to these awards with just five categories being decided by a combination of a public vote and judging panel, with the remaining categories decided by a panel of 15 judges. Voting is now open and closes at 9am on Friday July 26th.
uSwitch.ie has been shortlisted for the category titled “You Did Good” – Best Use of the Internet for Social Good. uSwitch’s category consists of a public vote and the company is urging all its supporters to spread the word, go online at http://www.netvisionary.ie/shortlist–public-voting.html and vote for them.
Commenting on the news, Eoin Clarke, Head of uSwitch.ie, says: “Making the shortlist in our first year of business is a great third party endorsement for the impact and progress that uSwitch has made in the Irish market. Voting for uSwitch is a real vote of support for a company committed to the fight to do social good and empower households with the right information and tools to get the best deals when it comes to paying household bills.”
Joan Mulvihill, CEO of the Irish Internet Association, said: “The sheer number of entrants has been overwhelming. While it’s free to enter the awards, we were particularly demanding in the nomination and application process for 2013, giving the judges an opportunity to see who was really in it to win.
“This week is an exciting one that will test the mettle of those shortlisted for the public vote. With public voting open for just 72 hours, the shortlisted companies are in a tight sprint to the finish to garner as many votes as they can. The increased judging panel from six to 15, means that the entries from the remaining 10 categories will be equally tested and hotly contested in the final stages of judging next month.”
The Dot ie Net Visionary Awards, will be held on 27 September at the Smock Alley Theatre Banquet Hall.
