A big IIA welcome to Patchcom Services who joined the IIA recently. Patchcom Services, established in 2002 provides IT Services to growing businesses throughout Ireland. Their experience spans a broad range of technologies with a focus on IT to support work and home life. I also had the pleasure of meeting the main man in Patchcom recently, Patrick O’Connor, at the last OpenCoffeeClub in the Digital Depot. It was clear from chatting to him and listening to him answering other OpenCoffeeClubbers’ questions about hardware and systems that he knows what he’s talking about. Also, interestingly and because I know my fellow countryfolk love the whole connections thing, Patrick has recently taken a city centre desk in the new co-working space set up in Dublin’s South William St. I have written about this before because one of our other members, Eamon Leonard of EchoLibre set up this space. It seems to me to be perfect synergy: all your technology needs in the one space!
A big welcome to Videoview who just joined the IIA. Videoview create rich video marketing for broadcast online, via DVD and on television. While they still haven’t cracked the old television puts on ten pounds chestnut but they are offering packages to suit all budgets, which allows any size company to avail of their interactive solutions for TV/Broadcast, Web Video, and DVD production.
The IIA welcome Pixel Design to its membership. Pixel Design is a graphic design and web design service, based in Dublin Ireland offering a complete range of design services to business start-ups and SMEs. A nice fit for the current IIA membership then!
Based on their online portfolio Pixel Design seem to have a varied client base including many well known arts organisations. I wonder do they get tickets to all those fancy openings and launches?
Straker Software which was set up in 1999 specialises in helping companies build multilingual websites. They are a truly international company with four bases in three continents. I also see from their blog and recent news that they certainly get about having been in as varied places as Atlanta, Berlin, Sydney and California in the last couple of months. They have also recently appointed a business development manager for the Asia Pacific region and have opened an office in San Francisco. Straker Software developed Zoomflex which is a hosted application that simplifies building Adobe Flex applications, significantly reducing development time as well as providing best practice architecture, leaving you free to concentrate on building great Flex rich internet experiences. Straker also have a base in the Kerry Technology Park.
A big welcome for CVizz, the IIA’s newest members. CVizz is an on-line VideoCV builder and hosting service that allows Graduates & Post Graduates to create and present a VideoCV profile to numerous employers. As a recent enough jobseeker myself I can really see how being able to point potential employers to a short video about your skills and experience could certainly make you stand out from the crowd. CVizz are already getting some notice from other bloggers most notably Ivan at JobsBlog.ie and the HR and Recruitment blog. Unlike me, these bloggers know what employers and candidates want, so check out what they have to say. Marie Carroll CEO of CVizz tells me that CVizz have great plans that are about to come to fruition so watch this space!
Welcome to our newest members ThinkSmart who have just joined the IIA. ThinkSmart are a small and growing ebusiness, technology, management and marketing consultancy and training company.
They specialise in working with small to medium businesses to help them grow or develop to maximise their potential. They have a vast range of international business and consulting experience, and over the last year have begun to focus on working with businesses in Ireland, beginning initially in the Southwest with their headquarters in Killarney and have recently opened an office in Dublin.
A big welcome to Vazumo.com, the IIA’s newest member. Vazumo.com is a search engine designed to help you find companies, products and services in a specific location. They also help businesses reach the customers in their area. Vazumo.com charge a flat fee for their service to businesses. They have also recently launched a text service whereby you can text, for example, “newsagent dublin 2” to 53118 and you will receive information about newsagents in Dublin 2. I know this because Chad Gilmer, one of the directors, sang the jingle down the phone to me! Multi-talented, our members, I tell ye!
The IIA welcomes the O-C Group as the newest members of the association. In their own words
“O-C Group’s provides the payment industry with a complete solution in payment processing technology and business operations to increase revenues and reduce costs. As a Qualified Security Assessor, O-C Group are approved to perform Payment Card Industry audits for any organisation which stores, processes or transmits cardholder data.”
Hubert O’Donoghue, one of the company directors, contacted me recently about their work and from this conversation I really think they have a lot of expertise to offer the IIA membership in the area of transaction management. For example on their site they have included a knowledgebase with plenty of resources for those seeking to learn more about transaction management. I’ll certainly be having a good look because while Hubert was very good at explaining much about transaction management and the Payment Card Industry Security Standards, it would certainly be an area I could brush up on.
(Hah? What’s The OC?)
The IIA are delighted to welcome Murray Consultants as a new member of the association. Murray Consultants are, as they write themselves on their website:
“an independent Irish owned public relations consultancy, specialising in corporate and public affairs, consumer public relations and event management.”
They have a broad range of clients in technology and telecommunications so they are a great fit for the IIA membership. In fact they are already getting busy, as one of their team is a member of the IIA Social Media Working Group.
The IIA welcomes Spoiltchild Design Consultancy as its newest member. Spoiltchild are a former four-time nominee for Net Visionary Awards in the Design Category. And the public at large (for it is you who nominate and vote for the winning visionaries) are not wrong in nominating the Spoiltchild Design Consultancy. A quick gander through their portfolio shows depth of design and a broad range of experience. I first heard about Spoiltchild on Twitter when somebody asked their fellow twitterers to recommend a good design consultancy and another twitterer came back straightaway to recommend Spoiltchild.
I also noted that Spoiltchild recently demo-ed their new Toddle application at the TechCrunch event but was unfortunately not able to make it to the event on the day.
