Fleet renewal is what truck rental companies are all about. Well it’s what they were all about until things turned a little grim in Ireland. Despite these tough times we are delighted to announce that our new fleet of vehicles has arrived and they offer real benefits for our customers. We are firmly of the belief that if your offerings are over and above what your competition can offer customers will continue to come back time and again.
It’s all about reduced fuel cost for customers.
Ireland and Europe in general has punitive fuel prices, in unison with the barrel price for crude is the refining and government take which accounts for roughly 80% of what the consumer has to pay out of his wallet. When we get into the area of commercial vehicle’s the relative price of fuel versus vehicle rises. This means that the amount of fuel a truck or van uses is higher relative to the cost of the vehicle than say a car or a motorbike. When a customer rents a van or truck the rental price can easily be eclipsed by the cost of fuel for the journey especially if a large journey is involved. Like it or not the modern diesel engine is a remarkable advance over diesels of even only 5 years ago. Modern Euro specification engines offer unsurpassed fuel economy. Our new 2012 Ford Transit vans and 2012 Mercedes Sprinters offer best in class fuel economy.
The new Mercedes sprinter trucks in particular offer great advances from our previous offerings. The new chassis and body combinations are over 450kgs lighter than our old models. Despite the obvious weight benefits there is also the new Euro 5 high pressure turbo engine. This engine has a relatively small displacement on 2.2 liters but has plenty of power on tap; power is actually on par with our old 3 liter units but with much better fuel economy. There is also the addition of a windbreaker on these rental trucks. On the urban cycle this does not make a huge difference but on a trip from Dublin to Cork the fuel savings are significant.
It’s About Maximum Volume and Load on a Drivers license.
The Irish driver’s license gives us the option of driving a vehicle up to 3500kgs gross which means that the vehicle including load can weight no more than this figure. It makes sense to make the vehicle weight as little as possible, this saves on fuel economy and also increased maximum legal load. I emphasize legal load here because it is a concept that many Irish consumers and Businesses are dismissive of. Road traffic enforcement and fines / penalty points are becoming far for common and it’s in everybody’s interest to comply with the law. Bottom line is that with our light weight bodies, aluminum lift units and single rear wheel sprinters you will save money on fuel and stay out of court.
It’s about your stuff being safely transported in a purpose built van or truck.
Unlike many other rental companies, we do not purchase our vehicles second hand, we also do not put ex lease vehicles on the rental fleet. This ensures that when you hire a vehicle from us the vehicle you get is exactly what you specified. The body and dimensions will be exactly as described with a water tight paneled interior, non-slip floor and plenty of anchor points. By keeping our vehicles consistent it enables the customer to make an informed choice and not get any surprises when they arrive for vehicle pickup.
Its about how everyone likes new shiny stuff.
We are no exception and we love putting people into new, comfortable and efficient vehicles. Why opt for a worn out van or truck, when you can get new shiny vans from us and save money by doing so?
