Dublin, 23rd June 2008
Daft Media, owner of leading property website Daft.ie, today announced the acquisition of competing website Property.ie for an undisclosed sum.
Property.ie was originally launched ten years ago and is one of Ireland’s oldest property websites. Since the acquisition, the site has undergone an extensive redesign and uses the latest web 2.0 technologies. It also lists property for sale from over 90% of Irish estate agents.
Daft Media will continue to run Property.ie in parallel to Daft.ie and will be investing significantly in driving traffic to Property.ie over the next twelve months.
Commenting on the acquisition, Odhran Ginnity, Chief Operating Officer at Daft.ie said “We are pleased to welcome Property.ie into the Daft Media Group. Having already cemented the number one position in the marketplace with Daft.ie, we aim to use this new title to compete more aggressively with the number two and three players in the market”.
He continued, “This is good news for homeowners and their estate agents already listing on Daft.ie. They will have all their properties listed on both www.daft.ie and www.property.ie for the cost of one subscription resulting in more leads at no extra cost”.
Daft.ie currently has three times the number of visitors as the number two player in the Irish property portal sector. This is confirmed by the latest audited report from ABCe (April 2008) which shows traffic of 75 million page impressions and 974,595 unique users per month.
