Would-be applicants are reminded that the deadline for entries for the second annual Eircom Web Innovation Fund is Thursday 30th April. To be in with a chance of securing some of the €100,000 funding up for grabs, start-ups should submit their applications to http://labs.eircom.net by then.
This year’s winners will receive €16,000 in funding as well as a support package from Telecommunication Software & Systems Group. TSSG will provide the winning entrants with free consultancy and training, incubation space, entrepreneurial training and support in getting their product live and operational.
Applications will be accepted under seven categories; music, games, content, movies and tv, news, sport and widgets. The content category covers video, short films, animations and UGC among others. Previous winners include Playza, TouristR, Heystacks and Locle.
According to Mark Taylor, head of content and services strategy in Eircom, the fund is more important now than ever. He said: “Eircom’s Web Innovation Fund presents a valuable opportunity for start-ups especially in these tough economic times. Anyone who has a great idea for a new web application, with the capability to design and deliver should absolutely submit an application. Each day we face increased economic challenges and it’s more important than ever to support and encourage innovation in Ireland.”
