AIB Merchant Services (AIBMS) achieved 1st place at the Card and Payments award ceremony 2011 for “Best Merchant Acquiring Initiative” for AIBMS loyaltyplus.
The Card & Payments Awards took place in London on Thursday, February 3rd. They are organised by Card Partnerships Limited and with the main focus on raising the profile of best of breed programmes in this market. Around 1200 people from across the card and financial services industry were at the event and the entries were judged by an independent panel of 16 experts.
The category “Best merchant acquiring initiative” was a new addition to the category list and reflects the broadening scope of the awards.
When selecting this award, the judges said of the AIBMS loyaltyplus solution “we note the massive penetration already achieved through this customer-friendly programme in Ireland and liked that all cardholders can benefit from the programme, irrespective of their card issuer, when shopping in all sizes of retailer using AIBMS as their acquirer”. AIBMS faced stiff competition, in this category, from many of the market leaders in card acquiring such as Barclay’s, Barclaycard Freedom.
