300 guests gathered in Dublin’s Mansion House to celebrate the tenth birthday of Realex Payments.
Some of Ireland’s leading internet businesses and entrepreneurs gathered in Dublin’s Mansion House on May 13th to celebrate i10, an event organised by Realex Payments to celebrate a decade in business.
Realex Payments was founded in 2000 by award winning entrepreneur Colm Lyon. Although the company started in humble beginnings in Raglan Road, the company has achieved considerable success over the past decade and now processes in excess of €9 billion per annum for over 3,000 clients. The company employs 70 staff and has offices in Dublin, London and Paris.
Speaking at the event, Realex Payments Founder and CEO, Colm Lyon said “that tonight is a celebration, not about Realex Payments but instead it’s a celebration to thank all the people involved in making a dream become reality. Our customers are the ultimate lifeblood of our corporate being and we exist to solve your problems and to help you grow your businesses.” He also paid tribute to the 300 web developers that now work with Realex Payments.
In relation to the people in Realex Payments he added that they are “some of the most amazing, dedicated and passionate people that I’ve seen. Our people are just incredible – I’ve said it before they are the inspiration for me and the rock upon which we are now determined to grow this business. With 75 staff over three locations there is a real belief that we can do more, never before have I seen a group of people with such clarity of strategy and a set of shared values that determine real behaviour – it inspires me”.
He acknowledged the role of Enterprise Ireland and urged ongoing and constant investment in the Internet Industry in Ireland. “The internet industry continues to offer Irish entrepreneurs significant opportunities to scale businesses internationally. Development programmes such as Leadership for Growth and the Internet Growth Acceleration Programme must continue and expand. We must never fear failure and accept that it is a step on the way to success and therefore we should be actively investing in businesses that will fail”.
Lyon concluded by saying “I is for Ireland, I is for internet and I is for incredible – never before was the need so great, the capability so strong and the support so evident that we should invest in internationally scalable internet businesses”
