Government Employment Subsidies of up to €200 per week: Chevron Training will assist you

The Government, through the Department of Enterprise, Trade and Employment, has initiated the Employment Subsidy Scheme, to support the retention of full time and part time jobs in viable enterprises that might otherwise be made redundant as a result of the impact of the global and financial economic crises.

The scheme is implemented under the EU State Aid Temporary Framework Guidelines. The government has committed €65 million to this scheme and the deadline for applications is 23rd December 2009.

What is the Government Employment Subsidy Scheme?
It is an employment subsidy scheme for eligible enterprises employing 10 or more full time staff that can identify a number of full time (working an average of 35 hours or more per week) and part time (working an average of between 21 or more, but less than 35 hours per week) jobs at risk in their company, as a result of the current economic downturn. The maximum full time subsidy per employee is €9,100. The maximum part time subsidy is 70% of the full time subsidy per employee, €6,370. The scheme runs for 52 weeks.

Employment subsidies of up to €200 per week per full time employee and €120 per week per part time employee are available for the first 26 weeks and then on a reducing scale. The maximum support an enterprise can receive is €500,000. A condition of approval is that companies commit to maintaining a multiple of the number of full time and part time jobs that may be covered by employment subsidies until 30/11/2010. Failure to comply with this condition will result in the application being ineligible.
