Daft Media Launches Rent.ie

20th November 2008, Daft Media, owner of Ireland's largest property website daft.ie, announced today the launch of a new rentals website focused on students and young professionals, www.rent.ie .
 
Rent.ie has been developed as a test bed for new technologies, and to continue to grow Daft Media's overall market share of online property searches. 
 
"With over one million unique users per month, Daft.ie drives over 70% of all property searches in Ireland.  With such high search volumes visiting the site each month, we wanted a platform to test new technologies, and allow us enhance Daft.ie without negatively affecting such a large user base" said Ciaran Maher, Director of Technology at Daft.ie.
 
He continued "Over the coming months we will be measuring the success of Rent.ie and will integrate any successful features back into Daft.ie".
 
According to Odhran Ginnity, COO at Daft.ie "This is great news for our existing advertisers as it will give them access to a larger audience at no additional cost". 
 
"Daft.ie's audience has gradually gotten older over the last ten years.  The largest demographic on Daft.ie now is 30 to 45 year olds who are looking to buy a property.  The launch of Rent.ie allows us to focus the site 100% on rentals, and target students and young professionals with a fresh and contemporary design".
 
Daft Media acquired the domain Rent.ie in June of this year for an undisclosed sum and will continue to run Rent.ie in parallel to their flagship title, Daft.ie.

Daft Media is one of Ireland's largest online media groups. Its flagship title, Daft.ie, is Ireland's largest property website. The latest audited report from ABC Electronic (September 2008) shows traffic of 85 million page impressions and 1,025,838 unique users.
In recent months, Daft Media has been growing its overall internet audience share in Ireland by bringing some new titles into the group. In March 2008, it acquired competing property website Property.ie and took a minority stake in Ireland's largest community website, Boards.ie, in August 2008.  In November 2008 they launched Rent.ie which brings the groups combined audience for all websites to over 2 million unique visitors per month.
