This half day conference will examine new online media such as Social Networking sites, podcasting, Web 2.0, blogging and mobile Internet and review what place they take in your marketing mix to help your business objectives.

About the Speakers

  • Mr. Philip Macartney (Head of Sales Ireland)

    Bebo

    Philip is responsible for driving advertising sales from the advertising agencies and developing content and partnerships for Bebo in Ireland.

    Philip has over 5 years experience in the Irish advertising industry having worked as senior agency sales executive for Dublin radio station FM104. He dealt with all the major Irish advertising agencies as well as key clients such as FAS, XtraVision, EBS and McDonalds directly and was responsible for achieving sales of over €6m.

    He was instrumental in a number of large multi-platform solutions including the recent partnership between FM104 and 3 mobile. He also developed a digital sales solution for the FM104 group of websites.

    Prior to joining FM104 Philip was a founder member of internet kiosk operator Every1online. As sales director Philip brought the start-up through two rounds of funding and implemented the first internet kiosk network in Northern Ireland.

  • Mr Donald Douglas (Managing Director)

    Return2Sender

    Donald Douglas is Managing Director and Client Services Director of Return2Sender, the mobile advertising agency which he founded in 2001.

    Previously Donald co-founded ContactDetails.com, the mobile social networking site, and prior to that Donald was also Account Manager with ZINC Interactive (now part of HAVAS) in London where he worked on client accounts such as Virgin Atlantic and Vodafone.

    Donald has a Masters in Advertising from DIT and a Bachelors Degree in Economics from UCD. Donald is a member of the Irish Auctioneers & Valuers Institute having worked as an auctioneer for 3 years on leaving university.

  • Mr. Brian Greene (Director)

    doop - digital media consultants

    Brian is a Podcasting, Blogging & Social Media Consultant. Brian is tech mad, but his passion is for radio, all types of radio including podcasting and digital radio. When not in front of the PC (which is rare) Brian is always busy protesting about something or other. A supporter of all things Open Source, Brian’s mix of scripting, coding and advocacy in Open Community blend with the practical appliance of business requirements in an ever changing technology landscape.

  • Ms. Joy Redmond (Director)

    Flexitimers.com

    Joy Redmond started her career in 1996 as Marketing Director of one of Ireland’s first web design companies (www.newmedia.ie). She remained agency side working with Zartis.com and Campaign HTDS before moving client side to become online marketing manager of IngredientsNet.com (a joint venture between Fyffes and Glanbia).

    Up to recently, she was a fulltime lecturer in E-business, research and marketing in the Dublin Institute of Technology and was Course Director of the Masters in Business & Entrepreneurship which encourages new venture creation among Ireland’s top class graduates.

    Joy also is a busy freelance market researcher doing regular qualitative and quantitative research projects for many blue chip companies in Ireland such as Bank of Ireland, eircom, NTL, Poster Plan and JCDecaux.
