Not a patch on Patchcom
A big IIA welcome to Patchcom Services who joined the IIA recently. Patchcom Services, established in 2002 provides IT Services to growing businesses throughout Ireland. Their experience spans a broad range of technologies with a focus on IT to support work and home life. I also had the pleasure of meeting the main man in Patchcom recently, Patrick O’Connor, at the last OpenCoffeeClub in the Digital Depot. It was clear from chatting to him and listening to him answering other OpenCoffeeClubbers’ questions about hardware and systems that he knows what he’s talking about. Also, interestingly and because I know my fellow countryfolk love the whole connections thing, Patrick has recently taken a city centre desk in the new co-working space set up in Dublin’s South William St. I have written about this before because one of our other members, Eamon Leonard of EchoLibre set up this space. It seems to me to be perfect synergy: all your technology needs in the one space!

Time to CVizz things up a bit
A big welcome for
CVizz, the IIA’s newest members. CVizz is an on-line VideoCV builder and hosting service that allows Graduates & Post Graduates to create and present a VideoCV profile to numerous employers. As a recent enough jobseeker myself I can really see how being able to point potential employers to a short video about your skills and experience could certainly make you stand out from the crowd. CVizz are already getting some notice from other bloggers most notably Ivan at JobsBlog.ie and the HR and Recruitment blog. Unlike me, these bloggers know what employers and candidates want, so check out what they have to say. Marie Carroll CEO of CVizz tells me that CVizz have great plans that are about to come to fruition so watch this space!

Not to be confused with The OC, at all, at all.
The IIA welcomes the O-C Group as the newest members of the association. In their own words
“O-C Group’s provides the payment industry with a complete solution in payment processing technology and business operations to increase revenues and reduce costs. As a Qualified Security Assessor, O-C Group are approved to perform Payment Card Industry audits for any organisation which stores, processes or transmits cardholder data.”
Hubert O’Donoghue, one of the company directors, contacted me recently about their work and from this conversation I really think they have a lot of expertise to offer the IIA membership in the area of transaction management. For example on their site they have included a knowledgebase with plenty of resources for those seeking to learn more about transaction management. I’ll certainly be having a good look because while Hubert was very good at explaining much about transaction management and the Payment Card Industry Security Standards, it would certainly be an area I could brush up on.
(Hah? What’s The OC?)

Spare the rod and welcome Spoiltchild
The IIA welcomes Spoiltchild Design Consultancy as its newest member. Spoiltchild are a former four-time nominee for Net Visionary Awards in the Design Category. And the public at large (for it is you who nominate and vote for the winning visionaries) are not wrong in nominating the Spoiltchild Design Consultancy. A quick gander through their portfolio shows depth of design and a broad range of experience. I first heard about Spoiltchild on Twitter when somebody asked their fellow twitterers to recommend a good design consultancy and another twitterer came back straightaway to recommend Spoiltchild.
I also noted that Spoiltchild recently demo-ed their new Toddle application at the TechCrunch event but was unfortunately not able to make it to the event on the day.
