Can I speak at an event?
We are always looking for speakers, presenters or people with something to say. You may wish to present at a seminar or take part in one of our regular topical debates. Simply email events@iia.ie to register your interest with us. -
Can the IIA promote my event?
Yes. We offer a range of ways to promote your company and services. You can opt to advertise to our Digital Digest, on our website, on our blog. You may also wish to become a sponsor of one of our events. Contact events@iia.ie for more details.

How can I sign up for events?
All IIA events can be booked online. Alternatively, you may pay by other methods by emailing events@iia.ie or calling the IIA office on 01 542 4154.

Does the IIA monitor and regulate the industry?
The IIA produces a number of position papers, which relate to Internet specific areas. These documents are presented to relevant Government departments and legislators and feed into public policy.

Is the IIA a state funded organisation?
No, the IIA is funded by membership subscriptions, events, patron sponsorship and member company sponsorship of events. -
The IIA is an All-Island organisation?
Although the Irish Internet Association has its main office in Dublin, it is a regional association. The IIA has members from all areas of the Island, including Northern Ireland and runs numerous events during the year.

What is the IIA?
The Irish Internet Association (IIA) is the professional body for those conducting business via the Internet from Ireland. It has been and remains one of the driving forces behind the adoption of the medium.
Four main needs of the business environment in Ireland drive the Irish Internet Association. These are:(a) The need to educate businesses to the benefits of this medium
(b) To provide practical, tangible business results based on the medium
(c) To work for an environment that allows for a speedy adoption of Internet technologies
(d) To position Ireland as a real player in the Internet and enhance our national competitivenessThe IIA is directed by a board of 12 industry experts who volunteer their services to the Association. In addition there is a staff of three personnel: CEO, Events Manager and Membership & Accounts Administrator. In 2001, the Irish Internet Association merged with the Electronic Commerce Association of Ireland.
The IIA is a non-profit organisation.

Who should join the IIA?
The Irish Internet Association is a Business Association as opposed to a trade association so our members are service providers as well as end-users.

Would the IIA include some info / press release from my company in the Digest?
Yes, we take content from member companies about events, product launches or good news stories. We ask for 50 words plus a link to more information. All content is passed by an editorial committee and the IIA reserves the right not to include certain content. Simply email content@iia.ie for more details.
Membership

Can I join the IIA as an individual?
Membership of the Irish Internet Association is open only to incorporated businesses and legally constituted organisations. However, individuals or sole traders can join as Associate Members. Other Individuals partake in the Association via their company's membership.

Does IIA membership give accreditation?
The IIA does not currently give accreditation although it is working on getting formal approval for its training sesssions and seminars.

How do I join the IIA?

In the year of application, you will be invoiced pro-rata for membership to December of that year. If you join in June you will be invoiced for June to December of that year at a rate which is a fraction of the yearly rate. Thereafter, you will be invoiced each January for membership. Member companies are invoiced each January for membership subscriptions automatically. Cancellation of membership must be notified to the IIA in writing upon receipt of renewal invoice, within 30 days.
