Board of Directors

  • Keith Bohanna

    Chairperson

    Keith Bohanna is an experienced marketing and e-commerce specialist. Within the marketing and communications space he enjoys the use of particular channels (email and social media) to complement an overall marketing and business strategy.

    He has extensive experience in the planning, management and successful delivery of projects involving multidisciplinary elements. This project work (predominately web project based) combines strong business and marketing elements with the technology frameworks required.

    He originally qualified as a Chartered Accountant with KPMG in 1988 and then gained experience at senior management level with a number of SME's before returning to Ireland in 1994. Keith then worked for 5 years with both the South East Business and Innovation Centre and Kilkenny County Enterprise Board before setting up his own business in 2001.

  • Mr. David Kerr

    Vice-Chairperson

    David Kerr is the founder and Managing Director of Bonkers Money Ltd which runs personal finance & price comparison website www.bonkers.ie.  

    David has 15 years experience working in high technology businesses, and has worked for the past 11 years in the price comparison space in the Ireland, the UK & mainland Europe. Prior to founding bonkers.ie, David was CEO of Xelector plc, a supplier of white-label price comparison software & services to leading UK price comparison brands, newspaper groups, internet portals and retailers. Previously David was a Lead Researcher at Broadcom Eireann Research Ltd specializing in distributed systems for telecommunications network management.

    David holds an MSc from Chalmers Technical University in Gothenburg, Sweden and a BSc from University College Dublin.

    David was appointed to the IIA Board in November 2010.

  • Peter Callan

    Treasurer

    Peter Callan is managing director of DigitalworX limited, the digital division of The Irish Times Ltd which runs Ireland.com, MyHome.ie, irishracing.com and its interest in entertainment.ie and Electric Media.

    Peter joined The Irish Times in 2004 and previously held the role of group financial controller.

    He qualified as a chartered accountant with BDO before spending four years with the Techrete group as financial controller. He also held a number of senior roles over a five-year period at electro mechanical group APW, including vice-president of finance for Europe Asia and South America, and general manager and finance director of its Dublin operation.

    Peter was appointed to the IIA Board in 2009.

  • Yvonne Cunnane

    Yvonne Cunnane is a senior associate of the Information Technology Law Group within the leading Irish corporate law firm - Matheson Ormsby Prentice. She specialises in advising Irish and international clients on information technology related issues including systems/services procurement and implementation, intellectual property, e-commerce, data protection and privacy law. Yvonne lectures at the European Rechts Acadamie (Germany) and European Institute of Public Administrators (Luxemburg) and is a frequent speaker at conferences. She has been published in legal and business journals in Ireland.

  • Ms. Clare Dillon

    Clare Dillon joined Microsoft in 2003 and currently heads up Microsoft Ireland’s Developer and Platform Group. The Developer and Platform Group works with Microsoft’s customers, partners, local software companies and particularly the broad developer community to help them get the most out of Microsoft's latest technologies.

    Before joining Microsoft, Clare was product manager with Havok, the market-leading games software provider and prior to that worked as a product manager for five years with IONA technologies. Clare holds an honours degree in Pure Mathematics and a Higher Diploma in Education, both from Trinity College Dublin.

    Clare was appointed to the IIA Board in 2009.

  • Maeve Kneafsey

    Maeve Kneafsey, MD, Elucidate, strategic online communications & marketing firm. Former CEO Hoson Publications (Golden Spiders). Web strategist and online communications expert with leading government & large private sector organisations since 2001. Founder of Irish eGovernment Awards and Centres of Excellence. Irish representative at eGovernment.

  • Jason Roe

    Jason Roe is an Internet Consultant who specialises in web development, search engine optimisation (SEO) and social media. He has been working in the Internet and Technology sector for the last six years and was previously involved in a number of high profile projects such as CRO.ie, Independent.ie, Herald.ie and more recently in social media innovations by Enterprise Ireland.

    Jason is a strong advocate of blogging, coworking and the development of regional events, networking and training opportunities. He is active at the grassroots level and is involved in organising BTW meetups and Bizcamp.ie. See Jason's IIA election manifesto.

    David was appointed to the IIA Board in 2009.

  • Martin Casey

    Martin is co-founder and Managing Director of Arekibo, a digital media company dedicated to helping organisations understand and maximise the true potential of digital communications. Arekibo has 5 divisions, Arekibo Digital one of Ireland’s largest digital media agencies, Arekibo Web delivering web design and development services, FirstPageon providing search engine optimisation strategy, Arekibo Mobile an app and mobile consultancy and ArekiboVentures a seed capital fund.

    Arekibo’s clients include an eclectic range of organisations from government departments to publically traded companies to new and emerging start ups. Arekibo clients include Bank of Ireland, Department of Foreign Affairs, Dublin Airport Authority, Fyffes Plc, Microsoft, RTE and Today FM.

    Martin has been working in the internet Industry since 1996 and has advised clients in Ireland, Europe and the USA on how to develop and implement their internet strategies. Martin is active in promoting digital media in Ireland and Europe. He is the Irish representative for the World Summit Awards (WSA), a global competition which promotes the best in global e-Content solutions and ICT applications. He is also a regular juror for the Europrix awards, a Europe wide multimedia competition for under 30s. In Ireland, Martin created the Graduate Category for the Golden Spiders.

    Martin is actively involved in a number of business angel networks investing in digital and technology start-ups. Prior to co-founding Arekibo, Martin was a co-founder of Zartis.com an ebusiness consultancy that was acquired in 2000 by the Nasdaq listed Breakaway Solutions.

    Martin Casey was appointed to the IIA Board at the AGM on the 2nd November 2011.

  • Gary Mullen

    Gary Mullan is the co-founder of Prosperity Digital Recruitment and has over 10 years experience sourcing Digital talent for Google, Cybercom, CKSK, RMG Target, Sony, EMI, Disney, RTE, Random House, Paddy Power, Hostelworld, Diageo and HMV. Gary has worked across a number of sectors of digital including: Entertainment, Media, Gaming, Telcos, Advertising and IT.

    Currently he represents Digital MDs, Senior Digital Planners, Online Marketing Specialists, Account Directors, SEO Specialists, Senior Developers, Creative Directors and Copywriters.

    Gary believes he can benefit IIA members by offering advice on salaries and HR issues and general changes in hiring for the internet community. Gary is in a unique position to understand the opportunities and challenges facing employers and employees in the digital sector and looks forward to sharing this insight to benefit the community.

    Gary Mullen was appointed to the IIA Board at the AGM on the 2nd November 2011.

  • Mr Gerard O'Neill

    Gerard O’Neill is Chairman of Amárach Research. He writes and comments regularly on economic, social and technological trends in Ireland and their implications for business. He received an MSc in Economics from the London School of Economics in 1983 before working at the Henley Centre for Forecasting in the City of London. He subsequently became Business Planning Manager in An Post, before establishing the Irish arm of Henley in the late 1980s. The company then became Amárach Research ten years ago.

    He has served as Chairman of the Marketing Society and as a director of the Irish Direct Marketing Association. He was made a Fellow of the Marketing Institute of Ireland in 2010. His book – 2016: A New Proclamation for A New Generation – is published by Mercier Press. Gerard remembers the first dotcom bubble well, and is thoroughly enjoying the second one right now!

     

    Gerard O'Neill was to appointed to the IIA Board at the AGM on the 2nd November 2011.

     

  • Aoife Sexton

    Aoife is a technology lawyer with Maples and Calder. She advises clients on technology transactions and commercial agreements as well as on intellectual property issues.

    Prior to joining Maples, Aoife was President, Remote Community Solutions and General Counsel in the Irish technology company, Altobridge. As part of the executive team, she was responsible for driving sales of Altobridge's GSM products and services in emerging markets.

    Before that, Aoife was 12 years with the GSM Association, the global industry body for GSM network operators, where she held a number of senior executive positions including that of CEO, General Counsel, Head of Government & Regulatory Affairs and Senior Director of the Development Fund.

    Aoife also acted as Legal Counsel to a US telco MFS Communications, based in its European headquarters, in Belgium. Private practice experience has included the French law firm Siméon & Associés (Brussels) as well as an Irish corporate law firm.

    Aoife Sexton was appointed to the IIA Board at the AGM on the 2nd November 2011.
